KALAIGAON, May 26 � �People, irrespective of caste, community or religion, who have been living in the BTC area and Assam for many years are the real Assamese,� said Tridip Daimari, Speaker of the BTC Assembly at a public meeting held here recently. The meeting was organised to felicitate Daimari and Jagadish Sarkar, the newly-elected Speaker and EM of the BTC Government respectively. The Speaker stressed the need for creating awareness among the people in the matter of cleanliness, health and hygiene, specially to help people suffering from dreaded deseases like cancer, etc.
The meeting was also addressed by Jagadish Sarkar, BTC EM. Both the guests were felicitated with japis and gamosas on their arrival. Dr CP Payeng also spoke on the occasion. Social worker Kami Ram Saharia presided over the meeting, while Dandi Kumar Boro and Kamal Prasad Sarma anchored the proceedings of the felicitation ceremony.
