Water supply scheme inaugurated at Maibang

HAFLONG, May 19 � A long-standing demand of the people of Maibang was fulfilled as the NC Hills Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member, Debojeet Thaosen inaugurated a water supply scheme under a one-time special assistance scheme at Maibang in Dima Hasao district on Saturday.

Thaosen gave an assurance that every problem in the district would be resolved in due course of time and requested the public to extend their cooperation in this regard. The water under the scheme is drawn from the Diduki river (Dautuhaja), located at a distance of around 16 km, and carried to the reservoir.

EMs Samuel Changsan, Debo Prasad Hojai, Nirmal Langthasa and M Kemprai reiterated that the present Executive Committee of the NCHAC headed by Debojeet Thaosen was committed to all-round development of the district.

After the programme, the CEM released an audio-visual DVD titled �Highlights of Samannay Mela,� which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in February. The Samannay Mela was organised by the NCHAC and the DIPR.

Later, the CEM also laid the foundation stone of the office building of the Irrigation Department in the Manikpur area near Maibang. The programme was attended by NCHAC chairman Ngamrothang Hmar, EMs Samuel Changsan, Debo Prasad Hojai, Nirmal Langthasa and M Kemprai, MACs, other dignitaries, department officials and members of the public.
