Water filters donated among Tezpur schools

TEZPUR, June 4 - In a bid to create awareness on using clean drinking water, Nezon Foods here recently donated a water filter to Tarun Asom Sangha and some selected schools located near Tezpur town.

The water filter distribution ceremony was held under the aegis of noted social worker Rabindra Nath Sharma at the office of Tarun Asom Sangha. An Aqua-Guard water filter was donated to the heads of the academic institutions, including Khelmati High School, Jugal High School, Tezpur Rastrabhasa School, Tezpur Academy, Sonitpur Jatiya Vidyalaya, Collegiate High School and Baan Theatre.

Attending the programme as special guest, Dr Bhubaneswar Saharia spoke on the need of drinking potable water.

Claiming that unhygienic water was the root cause of different diseases, Dr Saharia also mentioned that in Tezpur and its adjoining areas arsenic has been found, which has become a major challenge for the health sector.

On the other hand, naturalist Pradip Bhattacharya felt that an awareness drive on safe drinking should be conducted in the rural areas.

From the presidential chair, Rabindra Nath Sharma appreciated Prakash Bader, the owner of Nezon Foods, for undertaking such a novel initiative for the welfare of the people.
