Warning against wall defacement at public places

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 19 - The Kamrup Metro district administration has warned of action against individuals or organisations that deface walls at public places.

Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu said today that engaging in activities like slogan writing and graffiti in public spaces is a violation of law and people involved in such acts are liable to face action.

If it is a private property, then permission of the owner concerned is required before writing slogans or doing any such acts, but if it is a government property or located in government land than those engaging in such acts are liable for punishment, he said.

The DCs reaction came after it was pointed out that at many places across the city wall writing, sticking of posters and other such defacements continue to happen despite directives to the contrary.

Dr Angamuthu added that a survey is also being carried out in Kamrup Metro district regarding toilets in individual households as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The survey is expected to be completed by end of this month.
