�Walk for Vote� rally in Sivasagar on April 7

SIVASAGAR, April 2 - The Sivasagar Election District will organise a voter awareness rally here on April 7 next to create awareness among the voters of the three Assembly segments in the district.

The rally named �Walk for Vote� will be taken out in the town to encourage voters from the three LACs � 103 Amguri, 107 Thowra and 108 Sivasagar � to take part in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. Sivasagar Election District falls under Jorhat HPC that goes to polls in the first phase on April 11.

The rally will be organised at the Boarding field in Sivasagar and simultaneously at four other development blocks and 62 gaon panchayats.

The rally will be flagged off by the district icon of Systematic Voters� Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), �Arjun� Bhogeswar Baruah, at 7 am. Noted singer and composer Manas Robin will also take part in the rally.

All officials and employees of the Sivasagar district administration, senior citizens, members of the traders� body and the general public shall take part in the rally. To apprise all about the �Walk for Vote� rally, a meeting was held at the Sukafa conference hall of the deputy commissioner�s office on Monday.

The election officer of the district Jagadish Brahma elaborated on various initiatives taken under SVEEP to increase voters� participation in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. So far, in the election district, as many as 45,565 mock polls were conducted in which around 55,000 voters were made aware about the use of EVMs and VVPATs.

Brahma also apprised those present in the meeting about the services provided under i-help through the Common Service Centres (CSCs) at the grassroots level.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dilip Terang sought cooperation from all concerned for conducting the election in a free and fair manner.

The meeting was also attended by veteran sportsperson Arjun Awardee Bhogeswar Baruah and stakeholders of the District SVEEP committee.
