Voters� awareness prog held in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA, March 15 - Under the aegis of Systematic Voters Education on Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, a public awareness meeting and rally was organised at the District Library auditorium here today.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Puru Gupta said that to take part in the democratic process by casting vote is the most important duty of a citizen. He also stated that when one observes the history of polling, areas where educated people are more in numbers there is less polling. Therefore, he appealed to the educated people to come out, cast their votes and set examples to others.

The meeting was also addressed by Additional Superintendent of Police, Lamhao Dungal; Circle Officer, Doomdooma, Nayanjyoti Bhagwati; Tinsukia Election Officer, Sushanta Dutta besides others.

Meanwhile, to apprise the procedures for casting votes in EVMs, the district administration has arranged mobile EVMs in 122 Tinsukia, 123 Digboi and 125 Doomdooma constituencies. These mobile EVMs, along with details as to how to use EVMs, will be exhibited on March 16, 17 and 18 under the supervision of respective zonal and sector officers.
