Voter list correction process on in Karimganj

BADARPUR, Aug 3 - All Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of Karimganj district have been instructed to visit every residence of eligible voters of the district, for collecting detailed information in connection with the ongoing works of the correction of the voters lists. This was decided in a meeting of the AEROs (Assistant Electoral Registration Officers) and Supervisors, held recently at the DC�s conference hall, presided over by the Karimganj Deputy Commissioner, Manoj Kumar Deka.

It was informed that all necessary arrangements are being made to bring the �records� from the �Birth-and-Death� Registration branches of the Health Department, to clear the lists of the names of the voters who have expired. The Election Commission�s orders regarding the deletion of the names of the expired, transferred or shifted and non-existing voters, for preparing a correct voters list, was also discussed. The officials present in the meeting were informed that if the photographs in the Voters� Identity Card are not of good quality, then these will be changed in the ongoing process.

Participating in the meeting, ADC as well as Election officer of Karimganj district Ranjit Kumar Lasker in his address said that, in the ongoing correction process of the voter lists, approximately 60% work has already been completed. The DC in his address instructed all the BLOs to include the names of all the eligible voters, whose names could not be included in before the last Assembly elections due to various reasons.
