GUWAHATI, March 12 - Vivekananda Kendra will soon have a larger footprint at Bokakhat in Golaghat district, a press release received here stated.
Currently, the Kendra runs a Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya which is a symbol of quality education for total personality development. It has been rendering quality service in the field of education in the region through its branch centre at Bokakhat since 2003.
On March 6, the seven children of Late Chandra Nath Bezbaruah donated two plots of land at Jyotipur in Bokakhat measuring more than 12 bighas to Vivekananda Kendra to facilitate its multi-dimensional activities. The progeny of the Bezbaruah family felt that their late father�s mission of serving humanity will be well served through the work of the Kendra.
Late Bezbaruah was one of the architects of Bokakhat town with his contributions for the socio-economic development of the entire community. His contributions to the education sector in Bokakhat has been remarkable, specifically in setting up the first girls� high school in Bokakhat way back in 1960.�
Further, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Jyotipur Primary School (1950), Bokakhat Boys� High School (1947), Bokakhat Hindi High School and Bokakhat JDSG College (1964).�His contributions in the field of education spread beyond Bokakhat to places like Sarupathar, Morangi and Mohuramukh too.
He was also instrumental in establishing a stadium, Bokakhat Football Association, Natya Mandir and Barowari Puja, the veterinary hospital, and some other socio-cultural organisations in Bokakhat.
His contribution to the field of education was formally recognised by naming of the science college at Bokakhat as CNB Science College.
It may be pertinent to mention here that Late Bezbaruah refused to accept a civil service job offered by the British Raj and dedicated his life for uplift of the society. However, he passed away in 1973 at the age of 58.
The Bezbaruah family was keen to associate itself with the Vivekananda Kendra. While donating the land to the Kendra, the family wished that the new centre�will work for the betterment of social, cultural, educational, economic and public health status of the local communities and beyond. The Kendra is currently planning projects to be implemented through this centre, and a medical centre, training units for women empowerment and others too are in the list of possible projects.��
Currently, the Kendra has its footprint in more than 800 places spread over India to work at the societal level for nation-building.�The people of Bokakhat feel that the Vivekananda Kendra, the winner of the 2015 Gandhi Peace Prize for Rural Development, will surely usher in socio-economic and cultural development of the area.
A public meeting will be held in the near future at Jyotipur to inaugurate the centre. National, regional, and state-level leaders of the Kendra and members of the Bezbaruah family are expected to attend the function, the release added.]
