Vivek Express begins commercial service today

GUWAHATI, Nov 25 � The commercial run of the Vivek Express, which runs on the longest ever train route in India, will start from tomorrow from both ends, i.e., from Dibrugarh and Kanyakumari, stated a press release issued by NF Railway.

The train will leave Dibrugarh at 11.45 pm on Saturdays and reach Kanyakumari at 10.25 am on Wednesdays. Similarly, it will leave Kanyakumari at 2.00 pm on Saturdays and reach Dibrugarh at 3.30 am on Wednesdays covering a distance of 4,286 km in 82.30 hours.

The train has 19 coaches and will have stoppages at Kanyakumari, Nagarcoil Jn, Trivandrum Cntl, Quilon Jn, Chengannur, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Alwaye, Trichur, Palakkad, Coimbatore Jn, Tiruppur, Erode Jn, Salem Jn, Jolarpettai, Katpadi Jn, Nellore, Ongole, Vijayawada Jn, Eluru, Rajamundry, Samalkot Jn, Duvvada, Vizianagram Jn, Srikakulam Road, Palasa, Berhampur, Khurda Road Jn, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhadrakh, Balasore, Hijilli, Midnapore, Bankura, Adra Jn, Asansol Jn, Durgapur, Rampur Hat, Malda Town, Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, Alipur Duar Jn, Kokrajhar, New Bongaigaon, Goalpara Town, Guwahati, Jagiroad, Lumding Jn, Dimapur, Furkating Jn, Mariani Jn, New Tinsukia and Dibrugarh.

This is the longest train service on track in India and 8th in the world, the release added.
