Virus death toll touches 197 in Manipur

IMPHAL, Nov 8 - Manipur has reported three more deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, official sources said here today. The cumulative number of virus deaths in the State has now touched 197.

In the last 24 hours, three persons � a 58-year-old man from Imphal East, a 75-year-old man from Thoubal and a 55-year-old man from Imphal East � expired at JNIMS and RIMS respectively, said Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson of the Health Department in a press release today.

In the past 24 hours, 242 civilians and one Central Armed Police Force personnel tested positive for COVID-19. The new COVID-19 cases were detected at 19 testing facilities across the State. The new civilian cases are from Imphal West (129), Imphal East (35), Thoubal (20), Kangpokpi (2), Bishnupur (40), Kakching (4), Churachandpur (9), Jiribam (2) and Kamjong (2), it added.

Meanwhile, 358 patients were discharged from 13 COVID care facilities in the State in the past 24 hours, it said.

The cumulative number of positive cases now stands at 20,376 while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 3,107 and 17,072 respectively, it added. The recovery rate is 83.78 percent. As of Sunday, 4,42,441 people were screened at various entry points to the State, while 3,70,8154 individuals were tested for the disease, said officials.
