KOKRAJHAR, July 20 � The 12-hour National Highway bandh call given by the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) in protest against the discriminatory attitude of the State Government towards the Bodo medium education, witnessed
violence in some parts of the district today.
According to the local sources from Ramfalbil, under Serfanguri PS, ABSU picketers at Ramfalbil under Serfanguri police station set a bike on fire but later the five was doused while two Bhutanese trucks came under attack with stones at Athiabari under the same police station. However, no one has been arrested in this connection.
It may be mentioned that the ABSU has announced the revival of agitation against the apathy of State Government. The demands of the ABSU are- setting up of a separate directorate for Bodo medium schools, provincialisation of venture schools, appointment of teachers, filling up of vacant posts, setting up of a central university, medical college and appointment of Bodo MIL subject teachers in higher secondary and university levels etc.
