Vinod Sonkar appointed Tripura BJP in-charge

By CORRESPONDENT

AGARTALA, Nov 15 - BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh Vinod Sonkar has been named as the partys Tripura in-charge, replacing Sunil Deodhar who had led the party to a stunning victory in the 2018 Assembly elections.

According to a release issued by BJP national general secretary Arun Kumar, Sonkar a seasoned politician has been appointed as the in-charge of Tripura.

However, the name of the national general secretary in charge of the State is yet to be announced. There has been internal squabble in the party for the post. Ram Madhav, who was the national general secretary in charge of Tripura along with other Northeastern States, was removed from the post in September.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today greeted Sonkar on his appointment. In a Facebook post, the Chief Minister hoped that the party would flourish under the guidance of Vinod Sonkar, who has already proved his mettle as an organiser.

The organisation will reach new height under your leadership. The people will also be benefited as you are also a partner in Narendra Modis mission Sabka Saath Saabka Vikash and Sabka Viswas (together with all, for the development of all and with the trust of all), he said.

Member of Parliament (MP) from Tripura Pratima Bhoumik also congratulated Sonkar for being appointed as the party in-charge of the State. Sonkar, who is a two-time MP, is a parliamentary colleague of Bhoumik.

However, the rebel camp headed by BJP MLA Ram Prasad Paul is yet to make any comment on Sonkars appointment. Party sources said the BJP central leadership would send a team to the State to hear the grievances of party workers and MLAs. The team is likely to visit the State on November 21, a party source said.
