GUWAHATI, March 7 � Rongjeng, in East Garo Hills, Meghalaya is all set to organise its first village trade fair from March 20-22. The two day event, first of its kind in Rongjeng, aims at showcasing the produces, wares, handlooms and handicrafts of the place before the tourists of the country and abroad.
Ethnic culture and local cuisine will be highlighted in the fair. �The trade fair is a part of the Rongjeng Festival celebrations. The three-day event will showcase ethnic culture and cuisine along with traditional games and sports of the region and offer a vibrant marketplace and opportunity,� said Shamina Sangma, event director.
Entrepreneurs from Assam and Nagaland are also expected to join the event. The event further aims at giving the local musicians, actors and artistes�a common platform to boost their talents.
