Village electrified after 62 years of Independence

SIPAJHAR, April 12 � The long felt need of the residents of Khatikuchi village has been fulfilled as the village was electrified after 62 years of Independence. The electrification was done under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification scheme under Bharat Nirman scheme of the Union Government.

Inaugurating the scheme at a function held on the premises of Byaspara GP office, MLA of Sipajhar LAC Binanda Kumar Saikia highlighted the various aspects of the Bharat Nirman scheme implemented for the infrastructure development in rural areas.

He criticised the attitude of ex-MLA of the LAC, Dr Zoii Nath Sarma during his tenure. He called upon the public to be conscious on the coming days in this regard.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajen Deka, officer-in-charge of the RGRES informed that the scheme would cover 8,726 families of 165 villages under Sipajhar LAC.

The function was held under the presidentship of Gambhir Deka and attended by Keshav Nath, assistant executive engineer, Sipajhar Electrical Subdivision and Dipti Deka, president, Byaspara GP.

While appreciating the implementation of this massive scheme, the villagers of Sipajhar LAC urged the authorities concerned to strengthen the capacity of power transformers to ensure regular power supply.
