AIZAWL, Aug 17 - Aizawl District Child Protection Unit today warned against revealing the identity of COVID-19 patients, especially paediatric patients.
The Child Protection Unit�s statement came after a video clip of two paediatric patients with COVID-19 playing in a hospital ward went viral. The clip shows the two kids happily skateboarding on IV stands across the empty hospital ward, which touched many hearts.
Even though those who filmed the children might have done it with good intention, showing their face violates Section 74 (1) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the Child Protection Unit said in the statement.
�Moreover, chapter-II, section 4 (10) (a) of the Mizoram (Containment and Prevention of Covid-19) Ordinance, 2020 prohibits revelation of the identity of COVID-19 patients, children or adults,� the statement said.
The Child Protection Unit appealed to all concerned to protect children�s rights and those of COVID-19 patients in particular, as per the law.
