VHP delegation calls on Governor

GUWAHATI, June 22 - A delegation of the Vishva Hindu Parishad, Uttar Purva Prant, called on Governor Professor Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Bhawan here recently and urged him to ensure effective action against the culprits for the recent act of vandalism and abuse of an artistes� troupe at Aachalpara, Chhaygaon, when they had refused to perform vulgar and nude dances at a function.

The delegation also alleged that vulgar functions are routinely being organised in some char areas inhabited by immigrant Muslims and that it is a threat to the Assamese society in general and the cultural heritage of the State in particular.
