Veteran radio, DD music composer Jajna Bezboruah passes away

NAGAON, Aug 3 - Veteran lyricist, State�s grade (1) music composer of All India Radio and Doordarshan, Silpi pensioner, Jajna Bezboruah breathed his last at his residence, situated at Telia Pohukata village, on the outskirts of Nagaon town in the wee hours on Monday. He was 81. He left behind his wife, two sons, two daughters and dozens of relatives.

Bezboruah was born on March 1, 1939 at Telia Pohukata Bezkumar chuk and since his childhood he was involved in drama and music.

During the 70s, as a casual artist, Bezboruah used to sing Assamese modern songs in All India Radio, Guwahati and in 1994 he was selected as a grade (1) music composer. He composed as well as arranged music and tunes of more than 100 popular Assamese modern songs for most of the senior artists of All India Radio Guwahati and Dibrugarh.

Besides, he arranged music and tunes for more than two dozen Assamese modern as well as folk audio and video albums.

Bezboruah was felicitated with Silpi Award by the State government in 2019 and got the Silpi pension in 2006.

Bezboruah�s demise was condoled by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, former chief minister PK Mahanta, MLA Rupak Sarma, former ministers Rockybul Hussain, Girindra Kr Boruah, district units of various socio-cultural organisations including the Asam Saitya Sabha, Nagaon Zila Saitya Sabha, All Assam Students� Union, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad, All Assam Journalists� Union ( AAJU), Nagaon Press Club, Gandhar, Asom Saitya Sanmilan, Kollol Sanskritik Gosthi, Nagaon and many more cultural organisations and dignitaries of the district as well as the State.
