GUWAHATI, Oct 21 - Swagotukti, the autobiography of veteran journalist Pradip Baruah, Editor of Assamese fortnightly Prantik, was released by renowned writer-journalist Homen Borgohain at a function today at the Kanaklal Barooah Auditorium of the Assam State Museum.
The book has been published by city-based publishing house Sanjiwan Prakashan.
Borgohain described the autobiography as a matchless work of writing, which has documented the developments in Assamese society, reflecting upon the aspirations and failures of the society in the past 5-6 decades.
The book has also provided some valuable information on some aspects of the life of late RG Baruah, the founder of the Assam Tribune group of publications and the visionary who envisioned a modern Assam. These information are expected to help in preparing a comprehensive biography of the late visionary in the days to come, Bargohain asserted.
Pradip Baruah, the youngest of the three sons of late RG Baruah and late Lily Baruah, always dreamt of cutting his own path. He is not willing to live a life under the shadow of his legendary father, Bargohain said.
Speaking on the occasion, noted educationist Manjumala Das, a childhood friend of Pradip Baruah, read out the part of the book that dealt with RG Baruah.
The function was also addressed by writer-journalist Atanu Bhattacharyya, writer Abhijit Sarma Baruah, Pradip Baruah and his wife Maya Baruah, among others.
