UDALGURI, June 17 - From recent reports of results of Udalguri district, it is really heartening to see the provincialised vernacular medium schools making progress in overall performance. And the more positive aspect is to see the girls students ahead, compared to the boys.

This was observed by Dimple Baruah, Assistant Commissioner of Udalguri district while delivering her keynote address as distinguished guest at a felicitation function held at Udalguri Girls HS School on Thursday, where nine students of HS (Arts) and six students of HSLC examination of the school were felicitated by the school authority. The students were felicitated with a phulam gamosa, a certificate and two pens each on the occasion.

Baruah also cited examples from the recent past which glorified womenfolk in all disciplines and appealed to the girl students to study hard and have a positive aim to succeed in life. The felicitation programme, chaired by Jatindra Nath Sarmah, retired principal of Udalguri HS School, was also addressed by Rameswar Boro, noted social worker of Udalguri region and Anima Bayan, retired Principal of Udalguri Girls HS School. The meeting was also addressed by Priyanka Devi and Barasha Gayan, two students of the school who passed the HS and HSLC examinations respectively with flying colours.
