Verification of parking status of buildings

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 21 The Kamrup Metro district administration has started work on verification of parking status of road-side buildings on the GS Road and the AT Road between Khanapara and Bharalumukh.

Two teams have been constituted to verify the parking status, with the drive coming three months after the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) sent notices to owners of buildings and business establishments to seek details regarding compliance with the bye-laws.

Both the teams have been directed to complete their survey by December 31 and submit a comprehensive report to the Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner.

One team will be led by LN Saharia, Guwahati Circle Officer, and it will be responsible for the stretch between Bharalumukh and Ulubari, while the other team led by Dispur Circle Officer Chinmoy Nath will be responsible for the stretch between Ulubari and Khanapara.

Among other things, the teams will check the building permission and occupancy certificate as well as whether adequate parking space exists and if use of the parking is in line with the usage granted in the building permission.

They will also calculate the parking required as per the present usage and verify whether that amount of parking is available or not within the building establishments and will also check compliance with fire safety norms and other requirements, if any.
