GUWAHATI, Oct 3 - Taking a serious note of the complaints regarding demand for money by the staff of some vehicle dealers for registration, permits, etc, Commissioner of Transport Puru Gupta has asked the customers not to make any such payment other than for payment of the government prescribed fee/taxes.
�Complaints have been received that extra money has been sought by staff of some of the vehicle dealers from customers for the purpose of registration, permits, etc, at the time of purchase of vehicles. This is an appeal to the general public that a detailed enquiry may be made by the customer before paying any such amounts. Proper receipts also should be insisted upon against every rupee that is paid to the dealer,� an official statement said.
�Further, no payment should be made to any staff or official of the Transport Department in any DTO or any other place, other than the government fee or taxes,� the statement said. Any complaints may be addressed to the Commissioner of Transport, Paribahan Bhawan, Jawahar Nagar, Khanapara, Guwahati, the statement added.
