GAURIPUR, Jan 30 - The 70th foundation day of the VDP under Gauripur Police Station was observed on the premises of PC Institution, Gauripur with a day-long programme yesterday.
In the morning, Haider Ali, president of the reception committee hoisted the flag and swahid tarpan was performed by SC Das, O/C, Gauripur PS. A big procession was brought out on the occasion and it was flagged off by Hirakjyoti Saikia, Town SI, Gauripur. Various sports events were also organised and were opened by Alomgir Sheikh, general secretary of the reception committee.
The open meeting and the prize distribution ceremony was chaired by Haidar Ali, president, advisory committee of Gauripur PS. Ashok Kumar Roy, working president of the reception committee read out the welcome address and paid homage to the founder of the VDP organisation Late Harinarayan Barua. A friendly feast was also organised and was participated by the senior officials of the organisation including police officers.
Staff Reporter adds: Guwahati, Jan 30 - The 70th VDP Foundation Day was organised by Darrang Police amidst great enthusiasm yesterday. The central programme was inaugurated at the district headquarter Mangaldoi by Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Das in presence of Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan and other eminent personalities. Sports events, free medical and blood donation camps, public meetings etc., were organised at Mangaldoi, Sipajhar and Kharupetia. A volleyball tournament was also held at Police Reserve, Mangaldoi in which 10 teams participated. Cash prizes and trophies were distributed among the winners.
