VDF training prog concludes

TINSUKIA, April 12 - The special training programme for the second batch of Village Defence Force (VDF) personnel, which was conducted at the 2nd Assam Police Battalion headquarters since March 27, has concluded recently.

On the conclusion day of the training programme, aimed to augment the capabilities of the VDF personnel in discharging their duties in assisting the people and police, Mugdha Jyoti Dev Mahanta, Superintendent of Police on Monday appealed the trainees to do their services with utmost dedication and sincerity so that the gap, if any, between police and public, would be narrowed down. VDP personnel, who are very useful in the time of any natural calamities, fire, etc., should be provided regular training for their continuous services towards the society, he said.

The training for the VDF members, numbering 87 from 10 districts, namely Sadiya, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, Golaghat, Majuli, Dhemaji and Biswanath Chariali, included subjects like Physical Training, Drill, First Aid, Fire fighting, procedure of inquiry, nature of atrocities on women and children, witchery, action against drugs and narcotics, explosive materials, etc., and protection of environment, etc. The concluding meeting was presided over by Commandant of 2nd AP Bn Amitabh Das and attended by Additional SP of Tinsukia Suprativlal Baruah in addition to the officers of VDF and other dignitaries. Certificates of participation were distributed to the trainees.
