VCAA Foundation Day on Sept 22

GUWAHATI, Sept 15 - The Veteran Cricket Association of Assam (VCAA) will organise the Foundation Day on September 22 where the VCAA Lifetime Achievement Award for Cricketer, Nurul Amin Sports Organiser Award and the Nilimoy Chowdhury Cricket Coach Award, among others will be given away.

Addressing the media in a press conference here today, secretary of VCAA Nasir Gul Khan said: �The Veteran Cricket Association of Assam will step into the 20th year on October 10. But due to preponement of the BCCI domestic season we have decided to celebrate our Foundation Day on September 22.

�We at the VCAA, have been organising several functions including an awards ceremony annually for personalities who have stood up for the cause of cricket in the State. Continuing our tradition of awarding personalities for their unique contribution, this year too we plan to give away the VCAA Lifetime Achievement Award for Cricketer, Nurul Amin Sports Organiser Award and the Nilimoy Chowdhury Cricket Coach Award respectively.�

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be present as the chief guest while former India Test player Sadanand Vishwanath will be present on the occasion as the special guest. Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Legal Adviser to Chief Minister Santanu Bharali, among others will also be present during the occasion.

�As announced during the 19th Foundation Day by Ganesh Tamuli, chairman, North East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, the cash award of Rs 25,000 to Ranji cricketers who score a century or takes a five-wicket haul will also be presented to Abu Nechim Ahmed, Arup Das and Amit Sinha in the award ceremony.

The event will be held at Raddison Blu from 6.30 pm onwards revealed the organisers.
