Vast areas in Dhubri dist inundated

GAURIPUR, July 23 - Following incessant rains, the Brahmaputra and its tributaries like the Gangadhar, Gadadhar, Tipkai, Gaurang, Champa have inundated vast areas of Dhubri district. The Brahmaputra has already crossed the danger level at Dhubri.

Villages under Golakganj and Agomani circles namely Pub Kamuri, Ratiadaha, Belguri, Maisa, Lahajani, Dimakuri, Salangdanga, Berbahngi, Binnachara are reeling under water. The condition of the affected people in Gauripur Circle is stated to be serious as the villages Asharikandi, Geramari, Beguntali, Goalgaon, Jaler Alga, Gheger Alga are under flood waters of the River Brahmaputra and the Gadadhar. The farmers of these villages said that their paddy saplings have been completely damaged. Domestic animals are facing shortage of fodder, while a number of them have also died.
