GUWAHATI, Nov 25 � With the national leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) giving importance to the forthcoming Assembly elections in the State, the party�s election campaigning has picked up here and from tomorrow its young leader Varun Gandhi will address a series of public meetings in different corners of the State.
It needs to be mentioned here that the saffron party, as part of its strategy to woo the young voters, has given emphasis on encouraging its youth leaders to take up more responsibilities and Varun�s visit to Assam has been seen as an effort to attract the young men and women in the State.
Spokesperson of the State BJP, Dr Pradip Thakuria informed that Varun will address 10 public meetings during his four-day visit to the State.
Varun Gandhi, who landed in the State on Thursday, will address a rally in Doomdooma tomorrow at 11 am and three other meetings at Digboi, Margherita and Tinsukia on the same day. It will be a whirlwind tour for Varun as he will address at least three rallies everyday as well as discuss the party�s election preparedness with the members, particularly the young members, during his stay in the State.
On November 27, Varun will speak at a public meeting in Pathshala at 11 am, and another two meetings at Sarbhog and Golokgang. On November 28, Varun is scheduled to address rallies at Sarukhetri, Kamalpur and Hajo.
According to Dr Thakuria, many young men and women have evinced keen interest to join the party attracted by the leadership ability of Varun.
�Many young people have contacted us expressing their interest to join our party,� said Dr Thakuria adding that the party�s youth wing has done well by uniting the common people on issues affecting their welfare.
Dr Thakuria also said that in the coming Assembly elections its youth wing is going to play a major role.
