Varun flags off BJP poll campaign in State

DOOMDOOMA, Nov 26 � BJP leader Varun Gandhi today flagged of the party�s election campaign in upper Assam by addressing rallies in Tinsukia, Doomdooma, Digboi and Margherita.

Addressing the rally here Varun Gandhi said that the party would fight against coprruption, poverty and for the uplift of the downtrodden. �Our fight is not against Congress or AGP but to ensure the welfare of the people,� he said.

The rally was also addressed by BJP State president Ranjit Dutta and MPs Bijoya Chakraborty and Rajen Gohain.

Our Tinsukia correspondent adds: Addressing a rally at Bihutoli of Digboi, India Club field of Margherita and Tamulbari field at Tinsukia Gandhi stated that people of Assam have tested the reigns of Congress for 50 years and AGP for 10 years but failed to usher in development. �This time people of State will vote for a new rule. BJP is approaching people not for vote but to earn trust, the BJP young leader stated. Citing the recent success of the party in Bihar election, Gandhi stated that BJP is always for the overall development of the people especially for the poor and down trodden ones of the society for which the people of Bihar brought the JDU-BJP alliance to power again.
