GUWAHATI, Feb 28 - The State Government has decided to name the Central Library of the State Women�s University at Jorhat after Late Chandraprabha Saikiani, noted freedom fighter, social worker and a pioneer of women�s emancipation movement in Assam.
�The Joint Secretary to the Department of Higher Education (Technical), Government of Assam, has intimated its decision to name the Central Library of the State Women�s University at Jorhat in the name of Saikiani to the Assam Pradeshik Mahila Samiti (APMS) through a letter sent to it on January 7 last, which was received a few days ago,� the APMS informed in a press statement.
The Assam Pradeshik Mahila Samiti expressed its gratitude to the Chief Minister for favourably considering its proposal.
