Various bodies condole Bhupenda�s demise

GUWAHATI, Nov 9 � The Reserve Bank Employees� Association, the Reserve Bank of India Workers� Union, the Reserve Bank Officers� Association, and the All India Reserve Bank Officers� Association, Guwahati have condoled the demise of music legend Dr Bhupen Hazarika and prayed for peace of the departed soul.

The All Assam Hills Tribal Council has expressed its grief over the death of Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

Members of the Kamrup Chamber of Commerce too mourned the demise of Dr Hazarika.

�Dr Hazarika was a stalwart in the annals of India�s cultural heritage, a legend and an international cultural icon who represented and reflected with perfection the socio-cultural and political image of India,� the members of the trade body said, adding, �He devoted his entire life for the uplift of the poorest of the poor, his country and the world. May his soul rest in eternal peace.�

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, in a statement, said that the legendary musician�s songs will echo in the minds of the people of Assam for ages to come.

His songs and works created the bond, the synthesis between Barak and Brahmaputra vallies crushing all barriers of caste, creed and religion, the release stated.

The Md Rafi Smriti Sangha also condoled Dr Hazarika�s death saying that it caused a void that would never be filled up.

The Assam Theosophical Federation and the Assam Literary and Journalist Pensioners� Association and the Guwahati branch of Marwari Sanmelan also condoled his death.

The Hmar Student�s Association (HSA) and the Hmar Welfare Society (HWS), Guwahati deeply condoled the untimely demise of the legendary musician. Dr Hazarika�s contribution to culture, music, and literature will remain embedded forever in the hearts of people. May his soul rest in peace,� said the Hmar organizations in a joint statement.

The chairperson, the members, the officers and staff of Assam Public Service Commission have expressed their deep sense of sorrow at the passing away of music legend Dr Bhupen Hazarika and conveyed their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed to God for eternal peace of the departed soul, an APSC press release said.

According to another press release, the employees of National Productivity Council, Guwahati, mourned the demise of music maestro, legendary singer, lyricist, music director and composer, Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

The employees recalled the contributions of Dr Hazarika and their impact on society. Dr Hazarika has performed yeoman service to humanity and his death has created a void that is too difficult to fill. Dr Hazarika�s songs will always vibrate in the heart of millions, the release said.

Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of world renowned musician Dr Bhupen Hazarika, a press release said.

To pay homage to the legendary artiste, the District Karmachari Parishads of the entire State lit lamps last evening at the call of SAKP.

The immortal creations of Dr Hazarika will earn laurels for Assam and its people for generations to come, the release said.

The bank employees in the north-eastern States under UCO Bank Employees� Association (NESCO) and BEF (NER) have condoled the sad demise of Ganashilpi Bhupen Hazarika.

In a brief meeting, the bank employees observed three minutes� silence in memory of the epoch-making singer and expressed their heart-felt sympathy to the bereaved family, a separate press release said.

The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Assam in a meeting held within the premises of the State HQ, adopted a resolution expressing its sorrow at the sad demise of legendary musician Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

It also conveyed its condolence to the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul and observed one minute�s silence, a press release said.

The members of executive committee of Vivekananda Water Project & Development Committee, Vivekananda Path, Odalbakra, Guwahati paid shradhanjali to legendary musician Dr Bhupen Hazarika at a meeting of the executive committee of the project held on November 6.

In the meeting the members prayed to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul and also observed one minute�s silence, a press release said.
