KOHORA, June 4 Sensation prevailed here following vandalisation of a range office of the Kaziranga National Park by a 100-member strong mob today.
The mob demanded the release of one Chandra Doley, who was captured by forest guards at an area between Kohora and Agaratoli ranges of the national park at around 10 pm last night. The mob, who came to the range office at around 11 am, claimed Doley was innocent.
Sources in the park, however, said that Doley is indeed a poacher and that six rounds of 303 rifle, a bundle of rotis and a bottle of liquor were recovered from his possession when he was captured. Two other persons, who were also with Doley, escaped taking advantage of the thick foliage and darkness.
Others of the locality, however, demanded strengthening of the police force at Kohora to prevent such incidents.
