Silchar, Feb 25: Following instructions from the Election Commission of India (ECI) all polling officials for the ensuing Assembly elections in the state are to be administered with COVID-19 vaccines.
As such, the process of vaccination to the polling officials got underway in Cachar district from February 22.
ADC (Health) Sumit Sattawan has issued instructions to the Inspector of School Cachar, District Elementary Education Officer and CDC Silchar to ensure that all potential polling personnel included in election under the offices must get themselves vaccinated. A similar letter has been issued to all heads of offices under Cachar district.
Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, on Wednesday said, "as per election district group, Cachar is the first district to start vaccination for polling officials."
She further informed that the vaccination is already underway at 16 session sites and there are around 16 mobile teams going to offices.
Meanwhile, as per sources, Karimganj District Administration is also taking steps to administer COVID-19 vaccination to polling officials at the earliest.
