USTM sets up COVID-19 panel

GUWAHATI, June 25 - With coronavirus cases rising rapidly, the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, has set up a special COVID-19 health advisory committee to chalk out an action plan to ensure safety of students, faculties and other staff, stated a press release.

The university has also developed protocols for safe and uninterrupted teaching-learning and associated activities at the campus.

The release said sick students, faculty members and other staff would not be allowed to come to the university, and half of the students and staff members will come to the university on one day and the remaining half the next day.

�Frequent washing of hands with clean water and soap and regular hand sanitization with alcohol-based sanitizer or hypochloride solution will be strictly practised in the university campus. Moreover, disinfection and cleaning will be done at regular intervals under strict supervision,� the release stated.

USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque said, �There will also be provision of potable water, sanitation and waste management facilities along with proper cleaning and decontamination facilities in the campus.

�The university will also ensure that the students, faculties and other staff members maintain social distancing,� he said. Classes and transportation will be staggered to avoid gathering of students in large numbers.
