GUWAHATI, Sept 28 - The University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) has opened a School of Pharmaceutical Sciences from this year after receiving recognition from the Pharmacy Council of India. The school was inaugurated on Friday by Alexander Laloo Hek, Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister. The USTM also felicitated Padma Shri awardee Dr Ilias Ali, noted surgeon, on the occasion and celebrated the success of 58 NET/SLET/GATE-qualified students in 2019 by returning their course fees during an orientation programme held on the same day.
Addressing the orientation programme as the chief guest, Hek said that universities must work for societal development. USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque delivered the welcome address. The programme was also attended by Dr PK Goswami, USTM VC, a press release received here stated.
