In dramatic scenes that drew international condemnation, supporters of US President Donald Trump stormed the US Capitol building on Wednesday prompting the authorities to put the US Capitol under complete lockdown.

In the violence that erupted after Trump supporters clashed with the police, four people were killed and 52 other were arrested while the authorities tried to bring the situation under control.

The White House stated that US National Guard was called in along with the FBI to drive out Trump supporters rioting inside the US Capitol building. An explosive device was also found by the law enforcement authorities while sweeping the area for any threats.

To prevent the situation from going further out of control, Washington DC's Mayor ordered a 12-hour curfew in the entire city.
