US Consul General in city

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 22 US Consul General Dean R Thompson today stressed the need for expanding the relationship between the US and northeastern India, which he said could be achieved through outreach visits to share ideas on issues of mutual interest with government officials, academicians, NGOs, chambers and leading industrialists.

Addressing a business meet organized by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Thompson said that as representatives of the US Government, We have a responsibility and goal to promote trade and expand markets for US products. This provides consumers here with quality products at fair prices and supports employment in the US.

Underscoring the need for trade and investment to be thought of as a two-way street or win-win scenario, Thompson said that that precisely was the reason why the firms that wanted to sell in India, often offering technologies that could improve production technology and efficiency, were not investing in India.
