GUWAHATI, Feb 26 - USA�s Ambassador to India Kenneth I Juster called on Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Bhavan here today and discussed with him a gamut of issues which have the potential of strengthening Indo-US bilateral relations.
Prof Mukhi apprised the Ambassador of the State�s rich and diverse history and its rapid development in every sector, be it human resources development, tourism or industrialisation. He also drew Juster�s attention to the Centre�s support in ensuring development of the State and stimulating the State�s investment climate.
Prof Mukhi also apprised the visiting US Ambassador of the Prime Minister�s vision of �Act East Policy� and how it is unleashing an aura to re-establish trade, cultural and historic linkages between the NE region of India and the ASEAN countries.
Ambassador Juster assured of all the support and cooperation from the US to extend his country�s expertise in developing the oil refineries. He also said that both US and India can work together in revamping regional connectivity and facilitating people-to-people contact.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Consul General of USA, Kolkata Patricia Hoffman, Consul for Political and Economic Affairs, Kolkata Prasenjit Gupta and Public Affairs Officer James Dragon.
