AZARA, July 1 � Around 100 citizens of Sadilapara, Paschim-Pub Garigaon, Bidyanagar, Khanamukh, Lankeswar and other areas under Ward No. 1 of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) today created an uproarious scene over setting up of an NRC Seva Kendra near the Old Survey School under Jalukbari Police Station in Kamrup (M) district.
The citizens alleged that as per government notification, the NRC Seva Kendra for Ward No. 1 was to be set up at Bezpara which is a convenient place from all sides for the citizens of the entire area. But the officials concerned set up the Seva Kendra near the Old Survey School at Lankeswar without any concern for the public, they alleged. They also said that it has now become inconvenient for the citizens to come to the Kendra and fill up and submit the legacy data forms.
It may be noted here that the Jalukbari Kendriya Nagarik Committee submitted a memorandum demanding setting up of the NRC Seva Kendra for the citizens of Ward No. 1 under the GMC at a proper and convenient place on June 26. But no effort has been made in this regard, they alleged. The citizens again urged the DC Kamrup (M) to set up the Seva Kendra at Bezpara in the greater interest of the people.
