UPPL files defamation case against Hagrama

KOKRAJHAR, Aug 20 - The United People�s Party (UPPL) has filed a defamation case against BPF president and former BTC chief Hagrama Mahilary, IT cell managed by BPF and supporters for derogatory remarks against UPPL president Pramod Boro and for posting of such objectionable remarks in social networking sites like Facebook and YouTube.

Addressing mediapersons today at UPPL central office at Hatimata in Kokrajhar town, secretary cum spokesperson of UPPL Wilson Hasda said that the BPF party leadership, including Mohilary, is trying to spread false news against Pramod Boro for their narrow political gains. Hasda said one of the defamatory remarks by Hagrama Mahilary was in connection with the February 13, 2020 ABSU special convention at Tamulpur Baksa, BTAD where Pramod Boro being emotionally charged, wept after being relieved from ABSU presidentship. However, Hagrama Mahilary on March 5 during Bathiu Sabha deliberately mocked at this emotional incident with objectionable comments that �Pramod Boro wept on the said occasion because his wife ran away due to a family dispute.� This comment against Pramod Boro is totally false, fabricated, frivolous and politically motivated, he said.

Hasda also stated that there are many users, who use fake names with fake account details like Onkang Basumatary, Mithu Bhai, Narzary Swmkhwr, and Bargayary Zandip and they are using such objectionable comments without disclosure details in their social media accounts.

The UPPL has filed a defamation case at CJM Court Kokrajhar vide CR case no. 34/2020 under Section 120(B)/500 IPC in this regard.
