GUWAHATI, Aug 23 - Upper Assam, Southern Assam and Northern Assam Zone bagged three points each by virtue of their first innings lead in their respective two-day matches of the Assam Challenger League organised by the Assam Cricket Association today.
At the Judges Field, Upper Assam batsmen, resuming at an overnight score of 143 for one, went on to put up 316 runs in reply to Central Assam�s first innings total of 133. Md Arif top scored with 75 runs, while Pallav Kr Das contributed 65 runs. Bikash Chetry was the pick of the bowlers with eight wickets to his kitty. Coming in to bat in the second innings, Central Assam were 119 for one in 31 overs when the stumps were drawn.
