By The Assam Tribune

DIMAPUR, Dec 10 - The present installed power generation capacity of Nagaland from small hydro projects stands at 26.74 MW. Principal Secretary (Power) KD Vizo said this while speaking at the inauguration of an upgraded KV sub-station at Nagarjan here.

Adviser to Power H Tovihoto Ayemi inaugurated the 2x100 MVA power sub-station, which will cater to the entire Dimapur and Peren districts, on Wednesday evening.

Vizo said the bulk of the States power requirements is being purchased from Central PSU units operating in the North Eastern and Eastern regions. However, due to shortfall of hydro power generation in the Eastern region, the department is rationing the supply of electricity throughout the State on a rational basis.

There is now tremendous pressure to have our own hydro power generation stations, he stated. Vizo said that domestic consumption constitutes about 85 per cent of the total power consumption in the state. Correspondent
