By CORRESPONDENT

LUMDING, July 10 - A rally taken out by the CPM here on Thursday protested against the unprecedented price hike of essential commodities. The protesters thereafter sat in dharna at the Lumding Civil Hospital and demanded upgradation of the FRU.

A memorandum in this connection was dashed off to the State Health Minister at Dispur through the Deputy Superintendent of the Lumding Civil Hospital.

They protesters demanded setting up a 100-bed model hospital with all sorts of modern medical facilities. They also demanded provision of X-ray machine, besides all other essential medical equipemnt needed for treatment of patients.

Moreover, as medicine is perennially in short supply, the memo made a strong case for providing ample medicine based on the estimated patient strength in the hospital.

The leftist political party requested the Health Minister to look into the matter sympathetically and take necessary steps so as to convert this poor hospital into a 100-bed model hospital, a press release stated.
