Upcoming theatre fest to feature Palekar, Rakesh Bedi

GUWAHATI, Nov 17 - GPlus, a weekly magazine published from Guwahati, has announced the fourth edition of the Guwahati Theatre Festival, during which a play featuring leading theatre and film personality Amol Palekar will also be staged, besides a Hindi play by Rakesh Bedi.

The three-day festival will be held at Pragjyoti ITA Complex, Machkhowa here from December 6.

The fourth edition of the festival will present three popular plays, including Bedi�s play Patte Khul Gaye featuring veteran theatre personalities Avijit Dutt, Anant Mahadevan and others. This play is scheduled for the opening day.

The second day will see the staging of bilingual play The Devil Wears Bataa featuring Danesh Irani, Sajeel Parakh, Dilnaz Irani, Darius Shroff and others, and directed by Meherzad Patel.

On the closing day, Hindi thriller Kusoor (The Mistake) featuring Amol Palekar will be staged.

�The Guwahati Theatre Festival has become a landmark event in the cultural landscape of the region, after its first edition in 2016. The purpose of this unique festival is to provide a platform in the region for a diverse range of world-class performing groups to showcase their performances amongst new audiences infusing freshness and vivacity,� said Sunit Jain, festival chairman and publisher of the weekly tabloid.

�Along with the plays, this festival also promises to provide learning opportunities to the local youths through workshops and interactions that have been planned with visiting experts from the field of performing arts,� added Swapnil Bharali, Editor of GPlus.

The fourth edition of the festival is initiated by GPlus in association with The Assam Tribune and Ballantine�s Golf Retreat.

This year, the Guwahati Theatre Festival has also associated with Agora to promote theatre amongst the local youths through colleges and universities and running a youth fest for performing arts alongside.
