The Gauhati High Court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi in a case registered against him by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The case number 13/19 was registered against the peasant leader by the NIA for carrying out and promoting violence during the anti- Citizenship Amendment Act protests across Assam on December 2019.
Akhil Gogoi was placed under preventive arrest on December 12, 2019 and was later booked under the amended UAPA (Unlawful Assembly Prevention Act) by the NIA.
