The Central Bureau of Investigationtoday carried out search at the office premises of Environmental Information System (ENVIS) Resource Partner Centre, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong which led to recovery of incriminating documents, the agency said.
The search was carried out in connection with a case registered against the then Associate Professor, Dinesh Bhatia, and the then Finance Officer, R Mangkara Karl Lyngrah, both working in NEHU, on the allegations of submitting forged bills amounting to several lakhs of rupees under Waste Management Project funded by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Government of India).
It was further alleged that the accused during the period from August 2018 to October 2018 had misappropriated the government funds in two projects under ENVIS sanctioned by said ministry.
