GUWAHATI, Jan 17: A general meeting of the residents of Jilika Path and Homoeopathic College Path was held today to discuss the problems of roads and drainage of the area.
The meeting voiced concern over the damages being caused to the roads and drains due to thoughtless dumping of sand, earth, stone chips and other building materials on the roads and appealed to the local citizens not to damage the road by dumping building materials and to avoid filling of the drains with such materials.
The meeting asked the contractors to be careful in carrying and unloading their sand, stone chips, earth, and building materials and warned them of fine in case of any damage to the roads and the drains.
The meeting held under the presidentship of noted sculptor Biren Singha constituted a ‘unnayan samiti’ (development committee) with DN Chakravartty as chief adviser, Biren Singha as president and Hemanta Saikia as secretary.
