Unite in fight against COVID-19

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 11 - Founder president of Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) Dhiren Baruah and its general secretary Kailash Sarma have urged the people of the State to unite in the fight against COVID-19 by being patient and strictly following all norms of the lockdown.

The NGO pointed out that restrictions on peoples movement and the lockdown have been enforced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and are being implemented by the State government as these form part of World Health Organisation-approved means to contain the spread of COVID 19.

People have patiently adhered to the norms so far, barring a few violations. There should not be any panic, rush or other forms of violation of the norms till the lockdown comes to an end. We must remember that the threat of COVID-19 is still looming large and it requires the effort of each and every citizen so that our country and our State can emerge victorious in this fight, the NGO stated.

SGBG also lauded the role of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in dealing with the situation in Assam. The kind of medical infrastructure prepared in a short span of time, and the maturity with which our State government is handling the situation are laudable. This is the time we all should forget our political and social differences and think above the barriers of caste, creed or religion to work for the greater cause of humanity, SGBG further mentioned.
