Unique protest against rhino poaching

BISWANATH CHARIALI, July 25 - In a unique protest against the rampant ongoing rhino poaching in the Kaziranga National Park, a youth from Chatiya namely Basanta Das rode a specially-made bicycle with 16 children aboard it from Biswanath Chariali ASTC Bus Stand to Chatiya along the NH-15 recently. He covered the 12 kilometre route in just 25 minutes.

It may be mentioned here that Basanta had occupied a place in the India Book of Records in November, 2015 by swimming continuously for 12 hours along the river Brahmaputra covering 141 kilometres. This time he decided to protest the killing of innocent rhinos in this unique manner. His bicycle was provided by Padma Hazarika, MLA of Chatiya LAC in Biswanath district. Basanta was assisted by the Biswanath Chariali unit of the All Assam SC Students� Union in his endeavour.
