Unique move by Nalbari DC to increase voter participation

NALBARI, April 10 - Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury has sent letters to more than one lakh households of Nalbari district requesting them to exercise their franchise in the ensuing Lok Sabha election to be held in two phases in the district on April 18 and 23.

The letters signed by the Deputy Commissioner have been sent to every family through respective booth level officers.

While talking to this Correspondent, the Deputy Commissioner said that in order to ensure hundred per cent polling in the district he has been taking many initiatives to make the voters aware of their voting rights, specially young and woman voters. He added that the district has 1 lakh and two thousand voter families.

He further said he had directed the Circle Officers to ensure that no family is missed out as far as this letter is concerned. Dev Choudhury said that he has also taken steps to send another letter to students of high and higher secondary schools of the district to generate awareness among their family members.

The letter signed by the Deputy Commissioner will reach the schools soon and the principals will make arrangements to distribute them among higher class students. The move of the Nalbari Deputy Commissioner to issue a colourful letter to every household will encourage voters to cast their votes.
