JORHAT, Sept 6 - Blessed with phenomenal stamina and aquatic skill, a four-year-old girl named Adriza Rani Hazarika of Jerenga Nagar in Sivasagar district has become the cynosure of all eyes as she swam 3,600 meters in the historic Joysagar tank today withing 1 hour, 35 minutes and 28 seconds.
She was trained by the coaches of Rangpur Water Sports Association. The general secretary of the Association, Bipul Handique said that her performance today took everyone by surprise as neither boy nor girl of her age could earlier swim such a long distance without a break.
�Though she was determined and physically fit for covering more distance in the historic tank, but we did not allow her to swim more following the doctor�s advice,�said Handique.
He said that Adriza trained for the past three years in the swimming pool of the Association.
As Arjuna Award-winner Bhogeswar Baruah had inspired all the members of Rangpur Water Sports Association to conduct such performance in the district. Every member of the Association hoped that the trainees would reap laurels for the State as well as the country.
