Union Social Justice Minister in Manipur

IMPHAL, March 23 � Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot arrived here today on a two-day maiden visit to the border State. On his arrival from the national capital, the Minister was accorded a reception at the BJP office at Keishampat here this afternoon.

Speaking at the reception, the visiting Union Minister expressed his desire to set up a full- fledged 200-beded hostel for ST/SC or OBC in the State if the State Government provides the land for the project.

The Union Minister is accomnpanied by Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishna Pal Gurjar. The BJP Manipuir Pradesh submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister demanding for setting up of a Software Technology Park, Technical Institute, etc., for differently abled persons in the State. It also demanded setting up Old Age Homes and hostel for boys, girls, working women and men.

Newmai News adds: Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Textiles Dr Santoshkumar Gangwar, who arrives in Imphal on Tuesday, will launch a power loom in the State for the first time. He will also meet the State BJP leaders during his visit.

It may be mentioned that the present Union Government, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, has made it mandatory for the Union Ministers to visit the NE region every fortnight on a rotation basis.
